My mother had a full wall of multi-generations of family photos, going back to wedding pictures of her parents, her baby pictures, my dad’s baby pictures, their wedding photo, pictures of the family growing up and special friends.

She had typed explanation notes and affixed them to the back of each picture frame. When she died my nephew brought his photo scanner to her house. He and my niece went through all the photographs and digitized a photo album (including scans of the notes she had made on the back of the photos). They made large poster prints for the reception after her memorial service and gave digitized versions to all family members. Now we all have a copy of “Mom’s Wall” which was her keepsake of her family.

That’s such a great keepsake and it’s nice that your mom had a hand in putting it together, even though she probably didn’t expect what you would do with it. We have many old family photos that we rely on memory to identify the people and places in them but it’s great that your mom took the time to write on them.

I think that is a fantastic idea!  It’s also good food for thought because in my family, all of the photos are scattered about (some family members have some, other family memebers have others).  I really like the idea of everyone having the photos because not having them has caused a lot of conflict in my family (we’re always fighting over who has the pictures :-)

Susan, what a great way to remember her!! I think is a great way to bridge one generation with another as well!

When my dad died, all of us “kids” got together to put a few posters together to be up at the funeral home. It really brought us together in our grief and helped the grandkids who lived out of town get to know him a little bit better too.

Its such a great idea to remember her memories. I also collect number of pics my uncle and I remind his memories to see them. We can do some other things, like tribute any good thing for their memorial day.

You can create a lasting keepsake memory by including photos from the life of your loved one within the funeral program. Include as many as you like and then spiral bound it so the end presentation is like a booklet. This will be kept and treasured for many years to come and can be distributed to all attendees or just the family members for a personal tribute.

It’s a great and inexpensive way to create a keepsake of a loved one’s life.

That’s a fantastic idea- I really love the idea of the program having all of those wonderful and treasured photos in them; it really helps people connect to the decreased, and it may even help them to smile as they remember their loved one. I also like the prayer cards that you sometimes see at funerals; I still have mine from a funeral I attended years ago, and I when read it, it always reminds me of the person.
