I hope this isn’t too “woo-woo”, but when I was reading about the post on cemeteries, it got me to thinking about ghosts. I was wondering if anyone has ever had an experience with a ghost (or what they thought was a ghost). Like strange happenings and all- something constantly falling down, or hearing your name. Anyone ever experience something like that?

I feel like we talked about this, but I could’t find a previous topic about it.

There’s an article in my paper today about people who take care of their family member’s bodies and bury them on their own property. Here’s a link to the article.

It turns out this is legal in many areas, but most people don’t even realize it.

I thought it might be a good time to discuss some of the more famous deaths that are in the media. Of course, right now, we’ve just lost Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon. It really does seem as if death comes in threes.

It’s a real shame that we lost so many American icons in such a short span of time, and what I was really struck by was the fact that we lost an icon from each generation- it’s almost as if each generation lost a little bit of their childhood (and the things we grew up with) with the passing of these three much admired and respected individuals.

No matter your thoughts about the decisions they made in life, I’m sure we can all agree that they made significant, almost revolutionary contributions to our culture. May God Bless them all.

I’d love to hear everybody else’s thoughts on this subject…

Interesting news item about Walmart selling caskets online . According to the article, it looks like the caskets they are selling are cheaper that what you’d normally find if you went elsewhere. Do you think this is a good idea, or something Walmart should stay away from?

CNN had a great article last week about cemetery tourism, when people travel to cemteries to view specific gaves. Sometimes it’s a famous person’s grave but it can also just be one with interesting monuments.

I’ve never traveled to one, but I love walking around cemeteries and reading the gravestones, especially in really old cemeteries.

I wonder if this is just a sign of the times, or the wave of the future? There’s an interesting story on Fox News online about folks attending funerals online. I wonder what folks think about this? Do you think that this is a convenient way to attend a funeral and save some of the travel expenses, or do you think that it’s not as personal as you’d like it to be?

This was such a sad story; just wanted to extend my sympathies to all that were affected by this madman’s actions. This was such senseless violence and it’s so sad that these soldiers were cut down like this. I hope that the military can take the appropriate actions to help to ensure that this never happens again.

I read an interesting piece in Time Magazine about keeping the pages up on Facebook after someone has died. Facebook is saying that this is a great way for people to post and leave condolences and such after a person has died, but I was wondering if this is a good thing? Do you think its right for Facebook to do that, or should they just take the person’s page down?
